The response to Pray has been overwhelming, and I want to say thank you to each and every one of you that has taken the time to listen, share with a friend, and encourage me with your kind words of support.

After taking a long break from music to get married and start my family, I took my first step back to my life as an artist in April 2018.  I attended a songwriting retreat in Nashville, and was able to co-write with some amazing songwriters.  One of those songs ended up being Pray.

At the time, I really liked the song, but it wasn’t until I got home and couldn’t forget about it that I realized it might be the one to start this second act of my life with.

Pray was written to serve as a reminder of how close God is, no mater how far we think we move away.  He is always waiting for our return.  Taking the first step back is a simple one - speaking a prayer.

Pray reminds me that I often find myself doing the opposite of what I need to be doing.  Instead of sticking something out, I give up.  Letting fear paralyze me instead of living the life of freedom in the strength God provides us with.  There’s a parallel here in my own life as an artist and my return to music.

As a parent of a child with special needs, I often catch myself grasping for any sense of control I can find.  This song reminds me that despite my struggle in what can be a chaotic life, God is still right there beside me.

I love how Isaiah 49:15 says: “Can a mother forget the infant at her breast, walk away from the baby she bore?  But even if mothers forget, I’d never forget you - never.  Look, I’ve written your names on the backs of my hands.”  To think that God keeps us that close is so comforting.

It's been an honour to hear from listeners who have had Pray encourage them somehow in their lives.

One of the most touching stories comes all the way from Yellowknife, NWT!

‘Pray’ came out at a perfect time! Our 5 year old girl was in hospital for over a month in excruciating pain.  We ended up going to the USA for a procedure that was very costly but not available in Canada, desperately trying to improve her quality of life. Amy’s song ‘Pray’ came out after our daughter had two surgeries and we’d been in hospital for over 6 weeks. We listened to the song on repeat and it encouraged us greatly! We had so many people praying for us and God answered! So much power in prayer!! Thank you for the encouraging song!

I hope that wherever this song finds you, it will remind you that God is right there with you, and you can trust Him with every aspect of your life - big or small.
